1 - Draft Animation

Here is my first animation.

Note: This video did NOT turn out like a proper draft animation. It is not a comprehensive draft version of my animation, it doesn't move fluidly and is not long enough. More importantly, it is only half of what I intended. It was rushed, and is not an indication of the final version.

.

Final Storyboard

Here is my final storyboard, with annotations detailing what is happenning and arrows showing how the camera view is controlled.
.
.
.

.
Developing my analysis of the space from the 3 preliminary drawings, I envisioned a bit of a fantasy story, where the building comes to life. Someone is surveying the space from level 6, and the railing they are leaning on falls forward into a set of wings, taking them on a flight through the space and outside. Essentially, the building comes to life around the people within it, accentuating their experience of the space.
.

Draft Storyboard

This was a draft storyboard, sketched quickly when the concept for my animation came to me, just to capture the idea on paper and in the moment.
.

Preliminary Animation Frames

These 3 drawings represent a beginning, middle and end for an architectural animation.
.
.
.

.
The animation had to take place within the spaces of the Red Centre. What appealed to me was the interplay between the rooms of level 5 and 6 within the same space, and the 'community' atmosphere created. The drawings simply captured a view of level 6, a view from the balcony, and another view looking back up from level 5.

Final Atlas of Colour!

.
Here are photographs of the final Atlas of Colour, constructed with accordian-fold binding, hard covers and the tunnel through all pages.

.
.
And these are close-ups of the tunnel view, finally printed and cut out. (The last two pictures communicate the spacial progression best)

SIDE B - Cut-out Tunnel view

Below are the eight black and white frames which make up the tunnel side. When cut out and placed behind each other, the view through them becomes 3-dimensional movement through a space.
.

.
And these are the frames coloured from light (yellow) to dark, and overlapped as they will finally appear (but here, still 2D).
.

SIDE A - Exercises 1-10

These are the exercises that comprise one side of the final atlas.

Well, colour me...

This is the colour I was given to base my Atlas of Colour on. It is known as 'Slicker'. (the Dulux colour range can be found here: http://www.icidulux.co.in/color_palette_main.jsp?palette=RICH%20YELLOWS# , or Google the colour's name and number)
.
.
For some of the exercises, I used a complementary colour scheme, using yellow and purple (colours opposite each other on the colour wheel).
.
For the final Atlas, I went with a monochromatic colour scheme, using varied intensities of this main colour.
